SkyTrak ST MAX Standard Studio Package Review

We’d buy the SkyTrak ST MAX Standard Studio if the room is already measured and you want the monitor, enclosure, screen, mat, and projector in one order. SkyTrak lists four sizes, from an 8-foot studio to a 13-foot-deep one. Skip it if you only have space for a net, or if you want to choose each piece yourself.

What is in the box

SkyTrak’s Standard Studio page lists five pieces, plus a trial:

• The ST MAX launch monitor: dual Doppler radar, photometric cameras, and GOLFTEC speed training.
• An enclosure with a frame and a high-impact stretch screen.
• A 5x5 hitting mat.
• A ZW350ST short-throw projector.
• A protective floor projector mount, included on the 8-foot studio only.

A computer is not in that list. SkyTrak sells iPads and gaming laptops beside the package. Budget one. The ST MAX software page says course play does not run on a current iPhone, and a Mac needs an M1 chip or better.

The page was showing a sale price from $4,195 against a regular price of $5,495, and the same year-of-Core-membership banner as the monitor alone. Treat the banner as a current offer. The buy box uses the catalog price. The 14-day trial (Sweetens Cove and the practice tools) is listed separately from that sale.

Pick the size before you fall in love with the price

SkyTrak lists four enclosures. These are the frame sizes on the product page, not a promise that your swing fits:

• 8-foot: 8 feet wide, 7 feet 5 inches tall, 4 feet deep. Projector is floor mounted, and the protective floor mount is included only on this size.
• 10-foot: 10 feet wide, 8 feet 6 inches tall, 5 feet 4 inches deep. Projector mounts on the frame. Ceiling-mount hardware is included.
• 12-foot: 12 feet wide, 8 feet 6 inches tall, 5 feet 4 inches deep. Same projector setup as the 10-foot.
• 13-foot deep: 13 feet wide, 10 feet tall, 10 feet deep. This is the size that starts to look like a bay rather than a net with a roof.

The 8-foot studio is the one that avoids a ceiling install. It is also the one most likely to be too small. Four feet of enclosure depth and 7 feet 5 inches of height do not include a full driver swing, a stance behind the ball, and a comfortable miss. Stand in the room with a driver before you order the compact size because it is cheaper.

The 10-, 12-, and 13-foot studios mount the projector on the frame, and SkyTrak says they can be ceiling mounted for a full image, with hardware included. The 13-foot-deep studio is the one with 10 feet of depth and 10 feet of height. That is the size that starts to look like a bay rather than a net with a roof.

SkyTrak also lists Geek Squad installation as an add-on. That is optional labor, not part of the package price on the page we checked.

Package versus building it yourself

The launch monitor inside this box is the same ST MAX. You are paying for matching parts and one delivery, not for a different sensor. If you already own a net, or you want a different mat, buy the monitor and add a GoSports enclosure or a SIGPRO Softy instead.

The SkyTrak Studio Pro Package is a different, older bundle. This Standard Studio is the current ST MAX. Do not mix the two because both say “studio.”

If the room is measured and you want one SkyTrak order, the Standard Studio is the clean way to buy the current monitor with a screen, mat, and projector. If you like choosing parts, or the only space you have is a corner and a net, buy the ST MAX alone.
